Some of our customers have expressed interest in the testing equipment we use at AEM. We thought we'd start off by detailing the key test equipment our technicians use at AEM.

Core Loss Tester

AEM's new Core Loss tester calculates the amount of power loss from the stator, and can also be used to detect hot spots or core damage which can otherwise be invisible to the naked eye.

It simulates the internal conditions of the motor as if it were running, and our technicians then inspect the stator with an infrared temperature sensor for any abnormalities.

Core hotspots can cause deterioration of winding insulation, and if left undetected could cause a high rate of motor burn-out.

As part of standard procedure, AEM performs a Core Test on all motors 22kW and above. On smaller motors, the core is tested if damage is suspected or upon request.

Samatic Tester

The Samatic tester is the trusty workhorse of the repair shop! Our technicians use it to perform a range of tests, including surge comparison test, hi-pot test, winding resistance test, and also for testing rotors and armatures.

The Samatic allows us to determine the quality and condition of the motor windings and insulation. AEM performs these tests on all motors 22kW and above, and all industrial pumps and generators.

Test Panels

Our new larger test panels convert our standard 415V AC three phase power supply to the required supply for the equipment to be test-run.

The two panels on the left are the DC armature and DC field test panels, which allow us to run-test DC equipment from 0 to 575 Volts. The AC panel on the right facilitates run-testing of AC equipment from 0 to 1000 Volts.
