Does motor efficiency drop
1-5% after a rewind? (continued from last newsletter).
In 2003, EASA and Nottingham University conducted extensive testing to see if rewinding a motor with good practice repair methods actually had any significant effect on motor efficiency. Results
The 22 new motors studied were divided into four groups to accommodate the different test variables: Group A Group B Group C1 Group C2 Group D
The test results summarized above show no significant change in the efficiency of motors rewound using good practice repair procedures (within the range of accuracy of the test method), and that in several cases efficiency actually increased. Credit: EASA/AEMT Rewind Study [2003] |
