Welcome to the first AEM newsletter for the year!

This year is an important milestone for Adelaide Electric Motors, as it represents 30 years of service since we opened doors in 1977.

Adelaide Rewind Service was established in 1977 as a small repair business specialising in rewinding electric motors, stators, coils, etc.

As the retail side of the business grew, the name was changed to Adelaide Electric Motors to reflect this. Sales and service of pumps and generators soon followed.

In 1995, Tilon Pty Ltd acquired AEM with the intent to build on the company's growth potential, and strong reputation for quality and fast turnaround service.

Four years later, Adelaide Electric Motors moved from Adelaide city into a purpose-built facility in Thebarton, SA.

In 2002, AEM was the first company in SA (and one of the first few in Australia) to sucessfully receive full AS3800 certification, which enabled the business to repair and overhaul Exn, Exd, Exe & DIP hazardous area motors.

Quality Assurance

Our skilled technicians have just completed annual AS3800 training, which doubles our number of competent persons from 3 to 6. The AS3800 Standard provides the customer with peace of mind knowing that repair of hazardous area equipment is only performed by licensed competent persons, and conforms to the highest of standards.

Our effective quality assurance system is regularly externally audited, with continued outstanding results.

New Employees

Phil Amor

Over the years, the business has expanded from 5 to 15 full time employees, the latest addition being Phil Amor, Sales Manager.

Phil brings with him many years of sales and marketing experience in South East Asia, within the petrochemical industry. His engineering background also includes experience working on power stations, oil refineries, pulp and paper mills.

Expanding Reach

AEM now performs frequent work for customers Australia-wide, including Northern Territory, outback Queensland, and northwest shelf oil rigs.

Both Jack and Phil regularly visit our valued customers in all areas of Australia, and occasionally see some spectacular sights like this rare outback oasis.

Pump Test Bench

By the end of March 2007, we will have a brand new pump test bench capable of testing pumps up to 90kW. This includes centrifugals, submersibles (sewage, drainage, etc), and vertical spindle pumps.

• Heads up to 100m (980 kPa)
• Flowrate up to 160 Litres per second
• Delivery pipe up to 8"

We will also be able to provide efficiency testing as per the original specifications.

Open Day 2007

To celebrate 30 years of business, we will be holding the first ever Open Day at AEM in April 2007. It will include:

• Product stands from our major suppliers
• Access to the workshop, to view:
  • motors being rewound
  • pumps pressure tested on our new test bench
  • general workshop operation
• All staff will be available to answer your questions
• Light refreshments will be supplied
